Deadly Officer Involved Shooting

A deadly Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) is under investigation in Golden Valley. Authorities report that a Mohave County sheriff's deputy developed wanted person information during a traffic stop before responding to a residence in the 3600 block of N. Santa Maria Road.

  Acting sheriff's office spokeswoman Sandy Edwards said a deputy made contact with the wanted subject who was inside the home.

   ``The subject was uncooperative and refused verbal commands," Edwards said. ``After observing a weapon, a confrontation ensued resulting in shots being fired. The subject was pronounced dead at the scene."

   The deputy has been placed on administrative leave and the Kingman Police Department is conducting an independent investigation, both common practice in OIS incidents. Further details were initially unavailable.
