FIRE CLAIMS MOBILE HOME

More than two dozen firefighters battled windy conditions Monday when fire engulfed a Kingman mobile home. Kingman firefighters responded at 5:25 p.m. to the fire in the area of North 4th street and Windsor Avenue.

Assistant Fire Chief Keith Eaton said first arriving fire personnel found a fully involved, vacant mobile home. He said crews mounted an aggressive attack because wind caused the fire to spread to other structures on the property.

``KFD Command struck a second alarm activating the Mohave County Mutual Aid pact. Units from Golden Valley, Pinion Pines and NACFD #1 responded to the scene,” Eaton said. ``As the fire fight continued fears of other structures in the immediate area were in danger of getting fire pushed into them by the winds, a third alarm was struck to cover the Kingman stations.”

Overhaul operations continued until 7:30 p.m. and investigators worked the fire of suspicious origin until midnight. Anyone with information about the blaze is urged to contact the fire Departments (753-2891).

``More than 25 firefighters and Chief Officers from throughout the Mohave County Mutual Aid area fought the fire and were able to confine it to the original parcel,” Eaton said. ``Numerous residences contiguous to the property were saved.”

No injuries were reported.
